Students at Chessbrook have access to a broad, balanced and highly personalised curriculum. It is designed to re-engage them in education while developing their skills and knowledge for future learning and preparing them for life beyond school.
Initially students attend an Assessment and Induction programme. During this programme they access a core curriculum and conduct academic assessments to enable the school to tailor the most suitable provision for them. The students also attend daily virtual lessons (TUTE).
Chessbrook is an approved centre for ABC Awards, BTEC, CACHE, City & Guilds and YMCA vocational courses. These courses are offered at Level 1 and Level 2. Students also have access to a range of GCSE and Functional Skills qualifications. Dependent on their need and ability, students can follow a predominantly academic curriculum, a predominantly vocational curriculum or a mixture of the two. Chessbrook is also able to offer students a considerable variety of accredited alternative provision programmes at other venues.
The wide range of subjects and courses available allow students to have a bespoke curriculum that compliments their specific needs, whilst providing them with the best possible chance to be successful.
Literacy and numeracy are embedded across the curriculum; spiritual, moral, social and cultural education and guidance are an integral part of Chessbrook life.
